Pernicious anaemia is an autoimmune disorder that is immunologically characterized by autoantibodies to parietal cells (AGPA), proton pump and to the cobalamin-absorbing protein intrinsic factor.
AGPA, intrinsic factor antibody, vitamin B12, methylmalonic acid and complete blood count (CBC) with a blood film examination are used to determine the cause of a vitamin B12 deficiency and diagnosis of pernicious anaemia.
There is an additional £15 phlebotomy fee for every donation.
