Helicobacter pylori is a gram-negative bacterium that can colonize the human gastric mucosa and induce peptic ulcers and gastritis. Long term infection and irritation by the organism results in a specific humoral immunologic response that is thought to lead to gastric carcinogenesis and lymphogenesis.
Serologic tests are used to assess the serological status of an individual and are indicative for an acute or past infection.
There is an additional £15 phlebotomy fee for every donation.
