The Blood Biochemistry Profile examines the plasma, the liquid component of blood after red and white blood cells have been removed, for enzymes, proteins and trace elements.

These tests may indicate which organ system such as the liver or kidneys may not be functioning properly.

The Alanine Aminotransferase test (ALT test) measures the level of the enzyme ALT in your blood. ALT is an enzyme made in the liver cells and the level of ALT in the blood can help evaluate liver function.
